Bai Xun was the Military Commander of Shuofang. He was executed by Zhang Ze for possessing a painting from Empress Jiang, which he claimed was a gift. Despite being the father-in-law of the new emperor (his daughter was Prince Changyang's consort), he was convicted of treason and executed, his family exiled. His case exemplifies the harsh purges and the unpredictable danger even high officials face.
