han datou
Han Datou is the grandfather of Han Luoxue and the head of the Old Han family. He is a silent and complicit figure, not as vocally cruel as his wife but equally willing to sacrifice his descendants for survival. He initially objects to splitting the family out of concern for social reputation, but he does nothing to stop Old Madam Han from selling the children. During the family division, he is pressured by the village head and reluctantly agrees. He also participates in the later scheme to reclaim the rabbit and grain from Han Mingyuan’s family. He is a passive enabler of the family’s inhumanity.
