The Imperial Physician is a court doctor who has examined Prince Gong and prescribed that the Prince be fed only one meal every three days to prevent overnourishment. This order is cited by Xu Si to justify starving the Prince. The Imperial Physician does not appear directly but his authority is invoked to serve the Emperor’s plans to keep Prince Gong weak.
