A xiucai (scholar) and Qiao Nian's husband. He is unfaithful, having an affair with his widowed sister-in-law, and has two illegitimate sons. He neglects his wife and children, cares only about his reputation, and conspires with his mother to sell his own children. He is a cowardly and self-serving man.
