Lu Xin is a revered great Confucian, the master of Chu Jihan. He is strict, with a temper, often threatening to beat his disciple with a ruler. He lives in Xingyuan Prefecture with his wife and son's family. He quarrels with his wife and drives Chu Jihan away, but his wife chides him for being harsh. Despite his severity, he cares for his disciple. He is a respected figure in the literati circle.
