Mo Lin is Guan Yi’s mother, a loving and somewhat eccentric woman. She is a great cook but likes to experiment with strange combinations, such as stewing fish with grapes. She believes Guan Yi is going for military training and prepares dinner for him without suspicion. She gets angry at her husband when he makes a remark about her cooking. At the subway station she expresses reluctance to see her son leave but is calmed by her husband. She appears as a warm maternal figure who is kept in the dark about the real danger of exploration.
