The Old Taoist Priest is the abbot of a small Taoist temple in the mountains. He raised Shen Zhiyin from birth after her mother died. He has a strange temperament, only allowing her to call him Master. He is poor and decides to send Shen Zhiyin to the city for school. He later agrees to send her pet cat to the Shen family.
