Shimura Danzō is a disciple of Senju Tobirama, a silent and cunning ninja who hides in shadows. He is tasked by Tobirama with forming the Anbu, a Special Assassination Tactics Unit. He observes Kozō and reports that Kozō recognized and named the Anbu, surprising Tobirama. He is ambitious, seeking approval from Tobirama by imitating his behavior. He is shown to be observant, knowing that the First Hokage disliked the Anbu plan so it was shelved. He is willing to restart the Anbu under Tobirama's orders. He is cautious around Kozō, guessing his strength based on the claim of fighting the Slug Sage.
