Su Ning is the main protagonist, a 30-year-old man suffering from terminal ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). After his long-term girlfriend Su Yi breaks up with him due to financial issues, he quits his job and returns to his rural home to spend his final days in peace. He is kind-hearted and reluctant to trouble others. While clearing weeds in his field, he discovers a group of miniature saints fighting a spider, saves them, and learns a cultivation technique from them that gives him hope for overcoming his illness.
