Tan Ci is the main male protagonist, the CEO of Tan Corporation. He is wealthy and comes from a noble family but has shallow familial ties, with parents who died early and a close adopted sister in the Tan family. He is in a wheelchair, unable to walk, and has experienced two of four Great Calamities in his life, with the third one occurring on the day he meets Wu Yin. He is pragmatic, only believing in himself and not in metaphysics, but after Wu Yin's accurate divination and her insight into his fate, he begins to take her seriously. He is resourceful, canceling his schedule and heading south after her warning, thus avoiding a fatal accident. He is protective of Wu Yin, intervening on her behalf at the police station when she is accused of moving bricks, and he also expresses gratitude for her saving his nephew Zhao Yu. He is calm, composed, and maintains a distant, cool demeanor, but shows care towards those he trusts, such as his family and Wu Yin.
