Wei Chengyi is the Prince of a Different Surname (Weiyang Prince) of the Tianqi Dynasty. He is in his early twenties, tall but thin due to a potent poison that has collapsed his health. His skin is unnaturally pale and his lips are an eerie purple. He was a legendary war hero who at fourteen followed his father and brothers to the battlefield, and at fifteen burned the enemy's military grain, making a huge contribution. After his father and brothers died, he inherited the titles and military power at twenty and held the border firmly. A few months before the story, he was poisoned and his body deteriorated. On his wedding night, he is summoned to the palace and later pretends to have anger-attacking heart and unconsciousness to avoid the Emperor's persecution. He calmly accepts the swapped bride, Shen Xiangwan, and makes a deal with her: he will protect her brother Chu Liang in the army if she protects his mother and siblings during exile. He is cold, detached, and intelligent, with a sense of duty towards his family.
