I honestly can't remember exactly where I lost interest, but I deeply regret continuing with this story for as long as I did. The main character, unfortunately, comes off as a rather brain-dead and pretentious figure. Her only notable traits seem to be her loud, brash demeanor and an impulsive nature that only surfaces when the plot demands it. There are moments throughout the narrative where I hoped to see growth, complexity, or even some level of emotional depth, but instead, I found myself facing a character who often seems to lack any genuine motivation or intelligence. It’s frustrating to witness a protagonist who rarely exhibits any substantive development and whose actions feel hyperbolic and unearned. The interactions she has with other characters often feel contrived, as if they exist merely to prop up her over-the-top personality without providing any meaningful insight into her character or the story itself. There's little in the way of nuanced character relationships or organic conflicts; rather, we get a barrage of loud proclamations with minimal depth. In essence, what could have been a compelling journey of self-discovery and growth has instead devolved into a tale driven by clichés and superficiality. It’s disappointing to see so much potential wasted on a character who is more noise than narrative. If only the author had spared more thought for her development instead of relying on tired tropes. Perhaps this story could have resonated more deeply with readers.

It's still early days in my reading journey with this novel, so I recognize that my review might not hold much weight for those contemplating diving into its pages. However, I must say that I have been genuinely impressed by both the quality of the storytelling and the translation work so far. First and foremost, the characters in this novel are refreshingly well-developed and exhibit genuine personalities rather than being mere caricatures of clichés. The protagonist, in particular, delivers some memorable and powerful retorts that had me nearly cheering in excitement—an exhilarating experience, to say the least. The author has crafted a compelling dynamic involving trade between dimensions, which stands out as more sophisticated and engaging compared to similar narratives I’ve encountered. You find yourself rooting for the main character who, despite having a challenging family background, navigates their struggles with determination and resilience. Yet, surprisingly, the narrative manages to maintain a balanced tone that avoids becoming overly grim or heavy. Moreover, the pacing of the events is commendably executed; I was astonished at how swiftly I devoured the available chapters without ever feeling a pang of boredom. Many readers can relate to that period of adjustment when starting a new story—a time when one must acclimate to the rhythm of a fresh narrative. In this case, however, I didn't experience that lag. Right from the very first chapter, the story captivated my interest, which is a clear indication that the author possesses a knack for storytelling, eschewing the all-too-common tendency to string together a mere sequence of events interspersed with dialogue. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this novel to anyone looking for an engaging and well-crafted story. Whether you are an avid reader of the genre or just curious, this book has something special to offer. If you're on the fence, I encourage you to give it a try—you might just find yourself as pleasantly surprised as I was!

I must start by expressing how much I'm enjoying this story—it has truly captured my attention and provides a delightful reading experience. The narrative is engaging and the characters are intriguing, making it a fun journey through its pages. However, I can't help but notice that there are several moments that stretch believability a bit too thin. For instance, consider a scenario where someone arrives with an impressive collection of antiques. When you take the extra step to carbon date these items—something that collectors are well capable of doing—there's a clear expectation that the results should align with the history of the pieces being presented. If the testing reveals that the materials used in the creation of these antiques are actually younger than the person bringing them in, wouldn't that raise a significant red flag? It seems only logical to question the authenticity of those items. Such inconsistencies make it challenging for readers to fully immerse themselves in the story, especially when they confront elements that don't quite make sense in the context of the world being depicted. It's important for authors to maintain a level of internal consistency, as that helps ground the reader in the narrative and enhances the overall experience. Nevertheless, despite these moments of disbelief, I'm still invested in the story and eager to see where it leads. The potential for growth and deeper exploration of the plot keeps me turning the pages, and I'm hopeful that the author will refine some of these details as the narrative unfolds. All in all, this book has a captivating charm, yet it would benefit from a bit more attention to consistency in its storytelling.

30. Overall initial impression: this is a solid 5/10 start with potential to be really good. The concept is fresh, the protagonist is likable, the stakes are clear. Weaknesses are some pacing issues and underdeveloped worldbuilding rules. But the emotional beats hit well and I'm definitely continuing. That cliffhanger with Jiang Qi'an asking about getting more clothes and Chen Jinyue calculating the warehouse stock? I need to know what happens with the 140,000 pieces.

2 The factory setting is honestly refreshing. Instead of a CEO or a rich heiress, we get a broke girl in a failing factory with inventory problems. It's such a relatable struggle disguised as a fantasy. I'm way more invested in her paying off debts than I would be in some grand adventure.

2 I'm a little confused about the timeline mechanics though. Is time passing at the same rate in both worlds? When Jiang Qi'an goes back, has time passed normally? The soldiers said he was gone "a while" but not specific. And can she go through the door too? These are details I'm hoping get addressed soon.

2 The scene where Chen Jinyue kicks the fake antiques and discovers the door ornament was handled well. It would've been easy to make her accidentally activate the portal dramatically, but instead it's just there, small and overlooked. Good use of Chekhov's gun. I'm betting that door ornament is important later.

2 I need to talk about the brother again because his text "don't forget my kindness" is living in my head rent-free. The audacity. The delusion. I hope he comes back later and realizes she turned that "worthless" factory into something while he burned through his cash. That would be poetic justice.

2 The emotional core of the story is the survival instinct. Chen Jinyue isn't trying to save a kingdom or fulfill some prophecy—she's literally just trying to pay the bills and stay alive. And Jiang Qi'an is trying to keep his people from freezing. That grounded motivation makes the fantasy elements feel more real.

2 Xiao Chengyu is shaping up to be an interesting antagonist figure. Not evil, just skeptical and protective of his family's position. His reaction to Jiang Qi'an disappearing is genuinely panicked, which humanizes him. I'm curious if he'll become an ally later or stay as this suspicious rival.

2 The pacing of the first chapter was a bit info-dumpy though. We get the whole family backstory, the debt situation, the will drama, all within like two pages. I needed more breathing room. Let me sit with her despair before throwing the fantasy element at me. But once the door opens, the story finds its rhythm.

2 I really appreciate that the author didn't make Chen Jinyue stupid. She's broke, she's desperate, but she's not naive. She bargains, she thinks strategically, she uses her expertise. Even when she's surprised by time travel, she adapts quickly. Competent heroines are my favorite type and she's delivering.
