The “Bloodthirsty Bat to Dracula” evolution came out of nowhere but felt earned because of the god-tier talent. It’s the highlight for me. Seeing a fine grade summon become epic in seconds is the kind of power fantasy I enjoy. No unnecessary suffering just get cool stuff.
The system’s “Darkborn First Blood” talent is clearly the focus of the power progression. I like that it requires acquiring summoning skills to be useful. It prevents it from being an instant I-win button. There is a resource bottleneck: Gu Chen needs money for more skill books.
The moment Fu Yanci woke up with toddler intelligence and cried for “Sister” was both heartbreaking and hilarious. The image of a grown man in overalls clinging to Jiang Zao and yelling for water, while the doctor says he can’t drink yet, is pure comedic gold. I couldn’t stop laughing at how Jiang Zao just went with it and treated him like a three-year-old. Her adaptability is one of her best traits, and the author uses it to lighten an otherwise grim situation.
I love that Qingcheng doesn't just roll over and cry. When she demands evidence about the AIDS rumor or refuses to go to the dog house, she shows backbone. After three years of hell, she still has fire in her. That makes me root for her so much more than if she were a total victim. Her cold stare at her mother gave me chills.
She's teaching interstellar common language because most beastkin in remote galaxies can't afford translation machines and never leave their home planet. That's such a thoughtful detail. She genuinely wants these cubs to have opportunities to see the wider universe. The class teaching them to recognize their own names felt very grounding and personal.
Overall this is a fun, fast-paced villain MC story with good comedy and satisfying power dynamics. The characters are archetypal but have enough personality to keep me interested. The translation is readable. I'd definitely continue reading to see how Su Chen steals all of Ye Fan's opportunities and what happens when the protagonist tries to rise again.
