The bald fat man’s line “Hehe!” before revealing the CEO Luo identity is typical villainous laughter. But his later attitude is pure comic relief. I enjoy him. He’s the kind of henchman who enjoys his job too much. If the story develops him beyond stereotype, he could be a fan favorite.
The family infighting is gripping. Everyone scrambling for power right after the funeral, the Third Steward siding with Pan Yingxiu, the crowd arguing about who should lead. It feels real for a clan that just lost its backbone. Makes you root for Lu Ye to shut them all up.
The dialogue during the test is perfect. When Zhao Quhong says to the drowning frog kid, "Keep attacking until your Spiritual Energy is exhausted!", I felt that. It was harsh but practical. "Keep attacking until your Spiritual Energy is exhausted!" Imagine saying that to a shell-shocked student. It paints a grim picture of the training philosophy in this world. They need to be hardened. This small line of dialogue builds the entire culture of the Sequence Academy system. It tells me everything I need to know about how they produce warriors.
Yang Qu gives me the creeps big time. One second she's acting all cute and flirty, the next she's staring with this dead expression that sends chills down your spine. The way she sometimes calls him Chi Mu and sometimes doesn't, forcing him into this constant state of paranoia, is such a clever mechanic. It makes every single conversation a life-or-death puzzle.
1 Qiao Xuejun's decision to go for solar panels AND fuel generators is smart. She's not putting all her eggs in one basket. The system tried to make her choose, but she was like "both." That's the kind of strategic thinking you need in an apocalypse. Also, the detail about solar panels needing frequent cleaning due to dust is a realistic touch. Shows the author did some research.
