Not gonna lie, the author’s heavy repetition of “This must be a dream” made me feel like the MC is being a little foolish. It’s one thing to rationalize, but at this point, he’s opened an alien box, eaten alien food, and seen giant moons in the sky. At what point does he accept reality? I think his denial has run its course, and I need him to move into active mode. Get curious, explore, question the universe—not just nap and go to high school.
I appreciate that the story recognizes the potential for a major social catastrophe. The Shen family's fear and eagerness, the Qingyou Palace's political face, and the honor of a cultivation sect are all real-world consequences of this marriage. The threat that the Honored Master might "massacre the entire Shen family" isn't played for just laughs; it's a genuine fear that drives the plot. This grounds the fantasy in a set of believable stakes. It’s not just about two people falling in love; it’s about a mortal city being tied to the volatile temper of a powerful immortal. That raises the tension significantly.
