20. I’m actually relieved that the MC doesn’t immediately become a master schemer. He’s out of his depth—a former office worker thrown into a den of vipers. His initial panic and uncertainty feel authentic. Watching him learn the ropes and slowly adapt is part of the fun. I’d be disappointed if he turned into a genius overnight.
The transition from the real world to the simulation is done well. Time spinning, desk lamp dimming, and then he's back in a dusty spiderweb-covered room. That sudden shift from neon night views to a decaying home captures the apocalypse vibe instantly. The moldy curtains detail really sells the passage of time.
The side characters like the landlord Su Suyun feel more than just names. Her personality comes through in her speech. I’m already worried about her fate. That’s good writing—making me care about someone who might not survive long.
