The black rats’ coordination suggests they might be part of a hive mind or a more advanced species. The fact that they hunt for food and kill the young points to either territory disputes or just prey drive. I hope we learn more about them later.
Last thought – the story makes me want to play a survival base-building game. That’s its biggest strength. It captures the thrill of “just one more upgrade” and the fear of “I hope I have enough bullets for tonight.” Very immersive.
Han Yi hiding the pawnshop's true nature from his team is a smart survival instinct. After being betrayed by his father-in-law, he can't afford to trust anyone completely. That gray morality makes him more interesting.
The demon race mechanics are only vaguely explained. Youki mentions horns and wings, plus regeneration, but we don’t see much else. The fact that other demons aren’t described in depth leaves the world feeling empty. I hope later expansions show more variety in demon society beyond this castle.
Small details matter in this story. Like that golden bead that Xingnong picks up – it's the same one her senior brother gave her in her past life. That's a neat connection between worlds. And Chu Tiankuo's reaction when he hears her thought suggests the orb did something more than just fall. Also, the seven-leafed plant in his carriage might be related to the orb's power. The author scatters clues that reward close reading. I'm gonna keep an eye on those little things.
