This is total junk food reading, but it is high-quality junk food. Crispy, bite-sized chapters that just keep moving. I opened the file expecting to skim and ended up reading the whole excerpt in one go. It is incredibly addicting for what it is.
The reading experience overall is really clean and well-paced. I liked how the Cold Prison was used not just as a plot device but as a symbolic space for Yu Mu's emotional isolation. The contrast between the cold of the prison and the warmth of Yun Buqi's cloak creates a nice sensory detail that reinforces the emotional arc. The author uses physical sensations (cold, pain, warmth) to ground the reader in Yu Mu's experience.
That fight scene in the passageway was so quick but intense. The way that glasses guy just whips out a spiked lightning whip without even hesitating? Total psycho energy. And the way Shen Chenfu just casually throws up a space shield without anyone noticing? Chills. I love a protagonist who's OP but keeps it on the down-low.
