The grumpy-to-mush transformation when Bal pets Phia is executed perfectly. That instinctive head-rub she does before realizing she's rubbing against her enemy is such a pure cat moment. The betrayal in her eyes afterward is gold
Overall, I'd give the first few chapters a solid 7/ Interesting premise, rough translation, decent pacing, and a protagonist that's easy to root for. I'm definitely going to read the next part to see if the golden dot is worth the hype.
The tail reveal was perfect. "A section of white and red, fluffy tail hanging down." I actually gasped. It confirms her suspicion without a single word, just a quick flash of spooky imagery. A masterclass in visual creepiness.
The sign in system is clearly going to be the backbone of this whole story, and I love that it doesn't feel cheap right now. Having a hundred thousand years of backlog means Lu Ran isn’t just getting daily scraps; he’s getting a massive wave of energy conversion that actively raises his realm as time passes. It’s a clever way to allow him to passively grow without needing training arcs. The moment he checked his realm and saw it was at the Sixth Heaven of True Immortal after a few hours sells the system’s brokenness perfectly. It’s broken, but it’s fun broken.
The five-year time gap in their relationship is killing me. Li Mai spent all that time looking for him, wandering the streets hoping for an accidental encounter, and he just... disappeared. But now I understand why she couldn't find him – their worlds were completely different. He's a Zhou family heir, she's a single mom working as a secretary. The class gap is massive. I'm dying to know what actually happened between them five years ago. She mentioned a "test" – what kind of test? Did he intentionally pretend to be poor to see if she'd stay? And why did he suddenly vanish without a trace? The mystery is honestly what's keeping me glued to this story.
The opening scene in the Law Enforcement Hall hit me hard, especially the part where the green-clothed girl Liu He is clearly terrified and testifying against Yu Mu just to save her own skin. Her internal reasoning is so messed up but also so human - she genuinely convinces herself that since Yu Mu is powerful, he won't be punished severely, so her testimony doesn't really matter. It's that casual selfishness that makes her character feel real and honestly infuriating at the same time. I wanted to reach through the screen and shake her.
