Eric’s death stings way more than I expected. The way Long Yang just screams in the demon language out of pure grief is raw. It feels realistic—he’s so shocked and angry that he can’t even stay silent. The tragedy of that young prince getting killed for his secrets hits hard. The bad guys really don't play around.
30. Final thoughts: This novel is addictive if you go into it craving drama and emotional payoff. The characters are mostly archetypes but with enough personality to engage you. Xie Fanxing is a compelling leading lady who doesn’t grovel, and the brewing Huo Qingzhou subplot promises tension. The writing shows room for improvement (some dialogue stiff, some info dumps) but the pacing and emotional beats work. I’m hooked and want to see if she finds real love after the shallow fool.
I loved the big bull scene purely because of Shu Xiaohui’s reaction. He peeks out from behind the truck and comes face‑to‑face with this massive brown animal with huge eyes, and he just slides back down into his hiding spot in shock. It’s a cute moment in the middle of all the violence. And then the bull starts mooing to warn everyone about exotic beasts—that actually gave me a little respect for Li Chitian’s battle pet, even if I don’t like the guy himself.
The pace is just too fast—way too fast! It's overwhelming, to say the least. One of the most glaring issues is the excessive amount of information dumped all at once. Instead of immersing us in a well-crafted narrative, it often feels like we're merely skimming through an outline or a bullet-point list. If the author had invested a bit more time and effort into fleshing out these key points—taking a moment to breathe and allow the reader to digest the unfolding events—it would surely enhance the reading experience. However, I must admit that the plot has potential. Despite the familiar trope of an overpowered main character, there are glimmers of intrigue that could develop into something worthwhile. One can only hope that the pacing improves as the story progresses! But alas, a future update reveals a disappointing truth: it does not get better! If you are searching for a captivating and engaging read, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. On the other hand, if you’re an adventurous soul who enjoys navigating through a daunting challenge, just prepare yourself to switch off your brain and take the plunge. The journey may be arduous, lacking the depth and nuance we so often cherish in literature. Proceed with caution!
The decision to not move all the food at once was smart. Leaving it in the neighbor's apartment and locking it is a good way to stockpile without making his own place too obvious. It shows he's thinking about security, not just hoarding. That kind of strategic thinking makes him a more interesting protagonist.
