The Mars arc was probably the best-executed segment here. The dramatic irony is amazing because we know what is under the temple and Qin Sheng knows what is under the temple. Watching him carefully avoid the key trigger items (the plaque, the main seal artifact) so the Crocodile Ancestor doesn't possess anyone early is very satisfying. He treats the forbidden land like a very dangerous amusement park where he has already memorized the map.
I want to know more about the original female lead's backstory. The fact that she knelt in rain for three days to get this marriage shows she was deeply in love with Xiao Ziqian once. But Song Yaoshi doesn't have those memories or feelings, which creates an interesting emotional disconnect.
The time skip to three days later shows Li Wei struggling to survive. The detail about him eating grass and then spitting it out because it's bitter is both funny and realistic. I appreciate that the author shows him making mistakes instead of being instantly competent. It makes the survival feel earned.
The online shopping binge at 3 AM is way too relatable. Pots, pans, electronics, toilet paper, cosmetics, cold medicine - she's basically ordering the entire Amazon catalog. But seriously, the electric batons and pharmacy run really drive home how bad things are going to get.
