The whole "goat ate the wild ginseng" scene made me laugh. Qin Yun is just walking through the forest, catches two pheasants with stones, finds a goat, and also discovers ginseng at the same time? Talk about efficient hunting. And then he gets three giant fish and five massive shrimp in like five minutes. Dude is unstoppable.
I really liked how the story started with that morning cultivation scene. The description of the purple qi and the breathing exercise felt very immersive, and it immediately set the tone for a classic xianxia world. Ling Yu's discipline stood out to me right away. He's not just some lazy kid; he's grinding early in the morning while others sleep. That kind of dedication makes me respect the protagonist early on. I also chuckled at the little fat boy being called out as the guy who still sleeps in. It adds a tiny bit of humor to an otherwise serious moment, making the whole thing feel relatable.
Li Wuyya's choice to hide early rather than panic is perfectly in character. She's a level nine survivor from the apocalypse; she knows how to assess threats. The fact that she doesn't try to be a hero but prioritizes survival feels mature and fresh.
1 I'm really curious about the husband or love interest. The summary mentioned a handsome man, but he hasn't appeared yet. Is he important to the plot or just side character? Part of me wants a good romance to balance out the survival horror, but another part hopes the focus stays on the practical survival stuff. Either way, I'll see how it plays out.
2 I have mixed feelings about the baby’s powers. She has a strong spiritual sense that can scare off a tiger, but it backlashes and makes her unconscious. That’s a reasonable power level for a baby. But the fact that she’s an empress with secret techniques feels a bit too convenient. The jade pendant breaking to unlock the spirit garden is also a bit cliché. However, the story doesn’t treat this as a big deal. It’s just another thing that happens. The lack of dramatic fanfare makes it acceptable.
