Can we talk about Lu Ran casually lying about his name? "Ye Nan" is a smart move but a risky one, because this could spiral into a huge misunderstanding later when Su Yueling inevitably finds out. It’s clear he wants to give her a surprise, but the way he casually watched her look dejected when she heard about the "wrong" ascender is honestly a little cruel. He’s seeing her actively hurting and searching for him, and he’s just chilling on a lounge chair. It gives him a kind of playful but slightly irresponsible vibe. It makes you wonder if he’s underestimating how much she cares, or if he’s just that confident in his reunion plan.
Sister Eileen is the real MVP of this story so far. She keeps the church running despite not getting paid, she feeds Mark even though he's useless, and she clearly knows more than she's letting on. Her reaction when Mark asks about breakfast — the silent glare — was so in character. And then she warns him not to come out no matter what he hears tonight? That's a classic horror setup. I suspect she was a badass before becoming a nun, maybe even knows about the monster that killed Old Stuart. I hope she gets more screen time.
I am a little worried about the ghost possession case being too quick. The girl has been possessed for five days, and Gu Qingyin arrives just in time before the ghost makes a move. It feels convenient, but the author sets it up well by showing that the father didn’t trust her at first and almost sent her away. The ten million payment also raises the stakes. I hope the exorcism is creative and shows Gu Qingyin’s skills beyond just punching people. I want to see her use talismans and formations.
The system’s voice being childish and whiny didn’t sell me initially. Tutu sounds like a spoiled kid complaining about vacation. However, the amnesia about its name and origin adds a layer of mystery that pulls me in. I want to know why it can’t remember.
