The paragraph structure is very choppy. Every few lines is a new paragraph. It reads like a script or a chat log with constant line breaks. This is common in web novels designed for mobile screens, but it makes the prose feel fragmented. There's no flow in the descriptions. The dialogue is broken up too much. It's readable but lacks literary quality. The story's appeal is more in its premise and quick pacing than its craft.
The chapter ends with a teaser: "He felt Big Brother's wealth was so enticing..." but it cuts off. I need more. The author clearly knows how to hook readers. After watching Duan Yunfeng become a multimillionaire in an hour, I want to see what he does next. Will he quit his delivery job? Will he pay off any debts? Will he confront his landlord? The story has set up a high-stakes scenario where our hero has sudden wealth but no infrastructure. He still lives in a 60-square-meter rented apartment. He could buy a house, a car, anything. But will his personality change? Will he attract attention from the authorities? The potential for drama is there. I'm invested in the outcome. That's a sign of effective writing. Despite my criticisms, the story made me care about the next step. That's the most important thing. So, well played, author. I'm following for now.
The violence in this is way more brutal than I expected. Those headshots in the alley came out of nowhere. It’s not a cultivation story where fights are graceful; it’s a quick, ugly spray of blood. The author isn’t romanticizing it. Shen Xing even has to consciously calm himself down about it. That makes the action feel gritty and dangerous, which is perfect for a world where he’s an outsider with no allies.
Elder Sun gives me chills. He barely speaks, but that one line—"after tonight, East Rock Town may no longer need the Ye Family"—carries so much weight. His presence alone suffocates the room, and the way Ye Zhan spits blood from the pressure? It establishes the power gap instantly. In a story about a weak protagonist climbing the ladder, having a truly terrifying powerhouse like Sun reinforcing the stakes makes Qin Feng's fear more real.
