I’m really curious about Li Yanqiao’s side of the puppet world. He paints a disemboweled goat in neat, obsessive lines. Is he just a normal art student with dark tastes, or does he know about Jingren? The fact that he confronted Xie personally about the tampered paints, even waiting in the hallway to ambush him, shows a determination that goes beyond regular annoyance. His family is powerful, his position as Disciplinary Inspection Minister implies some authority. Maybe he’s involved with the “human control” side of the Jingren agreement? Or perhaps he’s an agent that monitors Puppet Masters? The story hasn’t revealed enough yet, but the elevator encounter with the identical black-clothed figure (walking like Li Yanqiao) suggests there’s definitely a connection. I’m excited to see how their paths intertwine beyond this comedy feud. It feels like the plot is about to take a serious turn.
That line about her holding a grudge for 13 years is so satisfying. It’s not just petty revenge; she ties it back to a childhood trauma where He Mingwu used her as a target. The fact that she planned this out so meticulously makes her feel like a true anti-hero.
1 Bai Mengjin's decision to join the investigation instead of going home is very in character for her. She's not going to sit around and let things happen to her. She's actively trying to figure out what the Samsara Mirror is up to, and using the opportunity to get close to people who might be useful later. It shows she's always thinking ahead, even when she's in a situation that should be confusing or disorienting.
The structure of the story is very much like a typical One Piece fanfic: insert character joins Roger Pirates, gets trained, experiences battles. But what makes this one engaging is the specific focus on Beo's Observation Haki and his long-term goal. The story skips the boring parts (like sailing for weeks) and focuses on character interactions and progress. It's a fast read with enough action and humor to keep the pages turning. I'm invested in seeing how Beo's relationship with Shanks and Buggy evolves (especially knowing Shanks becomes a Yonko and Buggy becomes a Warlord). Will Beo stay with Roger until the end? Will he form his own crew later? The foundation is good. I just need a few more unique plot twists to stand out from other "OC in Roger Pirates" fics.
The vibe of the story is very Chinese-era romance with a touch of revenge and family warmth. It reminds me of some translated web novels I've read. The emotional highs and lows are well-balanced. The tragedy of the past life is always in the background, giving every happy moment a shadow. The potential for a happy ending feels earned because we've seen the worst possible outcome. The light moments, like Sheng Ze Xi's teasing, feel like a reward.
