The dynamic between Shen Yuepo and her senior brother Lin Yanxin is hilarious. The way he’s so openly desperate for money and braised pork, and she just rolls her eyes at his dramatic antics, feels like a genuine sibling relationship. Their banter felt really natural and broke up the tension nicely. It made me care about their little rundown Daoist temple. I hope we see more of him; he’s a great comic relief character.
The Frost Soul and Red Training swords’ rewards—Qi Replenishing Pill and Poison-Repelling Pill—feel really specific. It’s not just generic power-ups. They target hidden injuries and poison resistance, which makes me think the author plans to use these later. Maybe the owners will face situations where those pills become crucial. That kind of detail shows thoughtfulness instead of just throwing random numbers.
Sun Qirui calling Zhao Xingyue "Yue'er" and her snapping back "You can call me Miss Zhao" is such a power move. It's little details like that which make the characters feel alive. She's not letting him pretend they had something special.
The “famine” part of the novel hasn’t even started yet, but I’m already sweating about food. Xiang Ying looted tons of grain, animals, and seeds. But she also has three kids and a maid to feed. Her space is almost full and needs upgrading. The fact that she didn’t take the imperial seal but took the dragon throne feels like a missed opportunity. But maybe the dragon throne is valuable later? Also, why did she leave the male concubines tied up? The author said she untied them, but later there’s no mention. Did they escape? Might be a plot hole. Overall, the survival logistics are interesting, and I hope the author maintains consistency with space capacity.
