I like how the author handles the “system” – it’s not spamming notifications. It’s almost background noise, waiting to be activated. That restraint makes the eventual devouring moment more impactful. I just hope it happens soon, because right now Kozō is just a clever bug.
Su Su's reaction during the robbery was realistic – she froze at first but then tried to use her phone to scare them. She's brave but not stupid. After the MC saves her, her eyes go all starry and she calls him amazing. That's a bit of a trope, but it works because she already liked him from earlier. I'd be impressed too if someone threw a grown man through the air.
1 Han Lichen feels like a copy-paste of every celebrity boyfriend in romance novels: handsome, famous, but secretly a pseudo-intellectual gaslighter. I rolled my eyes when he blamed Ye Qing’s acting for lacking chemistry. The recording reveal was a perfect slap to his face.
1 The detail about the guild uniform having designs for tails and wings for Beastkin and Fairy Race shows thoughtfulness in the worldbuilding. It’s a small thing, but it makes the setting feel lived in and considerate of different races.
I totally felt that opening – working late, complaining about no overtime pay, then still dragging yourself home. And the whole “I’ll sleep early” but then playing a farming game till midnight? That’s me every night. The way she still finds energy for the game is so real. It made the sudden horror of the blood moon and collapse hit harder because we were just in her mundane life. The shift from relatable grind to apocalyptic chaos caught me off guard in a good way.
