The sequence of other countries dying one by one in the elevator is such a strong visual. Dozens of livestreams cutting to black simultaneously because they all fell for the same linguistic trick. It really drives home that this isn't a game, it's a brutal elimination round where one wrong word means a national disaster.

The only pacing issue I see is the length of the Wang Dali section. It takes up a good chunk of the text, and while it’s emotional, it does slow down the main thread about Tan Ci and the mystery. But since the main thread is still fresh, it’s okay. And it gives Wu Yin a win that improves her situation (both money and merit). So it’s not filler; it’s character development.
