I really like how the author weaves multiple storylines into one location. The small restaurant becomes a hub where all these characters intersect – Tan Ci, Yan Ming, Wang Dali, the boss, and later maybe the criminals. It feels organic. The world feels small but connected. Wu Yin becomes the center of gravity that draws everyone together. That’s a good narrative device.
The rule about no family names for adventurers is pure genius for a secret identity plot. It perfectly splits her persona. 'Tempest the Adventurer' vs 'Duchess Tempest Blood'. The potential for her mask to slip in front of the Duke is the main source of tension I am waiting for.
The pacing in the first few chapters is fast but in a good way. We go from the summons to the first audience to the second audience to the recruitment in just a few pages, and it never feels rushed because Zashuria’s internal reactions fill in the gaps. Her anxiety and observations keep me engaged. I like that there’s no filler—every scene builds on her helplessness and the princess’s scheming. By the time she’s in the maid uniform, I’m fully invested in seeing how she’ll navigate this nightmare.
