Prince gong is giving me major red flags but also major curiosity. A paralyzed war hero with a terrible temper who supposedly kills maids for fun? That’s either a villain or a tortured soul with a tragic backstory. The fact that he’s bedridden and helpless but still manages to scare everyone makes me think there’s way more beneath the surface. His first scene grabbing her throat in the dark was genuinely creepy. I’m not sure if I want to root for him or be scared of him yet.
The nursery in the space with all the baby supplies is such a nice touch. It shows the system is looking out for her, and it's sweet that everything is already set up.
The third child who wanted to take the token home is an interesting character in his own right. He's not just scared – he's tempted. The token speaks to him, calls to him, and he can't resist. That's a classic horror trope, but it works because it shows how dangerous these objects are. Su Ninglong's mockery of him ("you've never seen a toy in your life") is harsh but also serves a purpose – it pushes him to put the token down. She's using psychological tactics to save him from himself. Is she being cruel to be kind? Or is she just being cruel? It's ambiguous, and I like that.
I want to see more of Gu Zijian's personality. She threw away a stick, said little, but her internal thoughts ("you'll avenge her, will you avenge me?") show she has pain too. That line stuck with me.
