The concept of the “Collection Technique” being a cheat skill from games is such a fun spin. It’s not just a generic power-up; it’s tied directly to the world’s crafting system, which makes it feel more integrated. The moment when Xu Zhou touches the Clear Wind Sword and the light screen pops up is genuinely exciting. The way the progress bar ticks up and the eventual reward—a blueprint—feels like a dopamine hit. It’s a classic game mechanic but applied to a life-or-death crafting challenge, so it’s both satisfying and clever.
One small thing: Xiao Xi has been living in the dump for a year after being abandoned again at five, but she's described as six or seven. The timing might be a bit loose. Also, how did she survive a whole winter in a shack without heating? But minor suspensions of disbelief are okay. The only other nitpick is that the master taught her so many skills in one year – but again, fantasy logic covers it.
The pacing in the first few chapters is really good. We get the transmigration, backstory, immediate conflict, and escape plan all within the first few thousand words. No dragging, no unnecessary world-building detours. The author knows we're here for food and drama and delivers both quickly.
I’m really torn about the male lead from the first chapter. He’s introduced as a “reward” and he’s clearly furious and humiliated, but then Xiang Ying just uses him and tosses him silver like he’s a one-night stand. And we don’t see him again after that? I keep wondering if he’s going to show up later as a major player. His baritone voice got a point, and he said he’d kill her – that’s prime love-hate potential. But the novel seems to shift focus completely to survival and looting, so I’m worried he’s just forgotten. I hope the author brings him back because the dynamic could be electric. Also, the whole “organization reward” thing from the apocalypse world is never explained – maybe in a flashback? That little mystery keeps me curious.
Mayor Wang’s sudden appearance and instant backtracking was hilarious. He’s scared of Luo Yingxue? Why? The story hints that she’s more than just a debt collector, but we don’t get the full picture yet. The way he yells at the police to put down their guns and calls it a “misunderstanding” is so transparent – he’s clearly terrified of her. I want to know what hold she has over him. Is it blackmail? Or is she really that powerful?
