The descriptions of the good sister's features—the moles, the Jigglypuff shirt, the stockings—are very specific and feel almost fetishistic. It's clearly intentional, meant to make her seem more human and desirable before the horror reveal. It's a classic technique that works well here.
I love the detail of Chun He, Shen Weiyang's loyal maidservant. She's the one crying, the one jumping in to protect her mistress. In a cruel world, she's the only one with unconditional compassion for Shen Weiyang. Her presence is a lifeline for the reader, a reminder of the goodness in the story. That small, desperate 'Miss!' she cries out when Madam Wang arrives packs so much emotional weight. 1
So this is essentially a professional One Piece fanfiction disguised as an original novel. I am totally here for it. The author has the unenviable task of making the Straw Hats and Yonko feel threatening to a prepared MC. The first two expeditions failing hard shows the author isn't going to let the MC just breeze through on meta-knowledge alone. The 'Supporting Secret Realm' cheat has to be a beast to keep up with top tiers.
Overall, this is exactly the kind of web novel that keeps me up at night. It’s got emotion, humor, a cute baby, slow-burn family healing, and a dose of revenge. I’d definitely binge-read the whole thing if it keeps up this quality.
1 I appreciate that the Jinyiwei hierarchy is well-explained. Warriors, Xiaoqi, Zongqi, Baihu, Battalion Commander... It's bureaucratic but also structured, so you know exactly what the promotion path looks like. Makes the world feel more lived in.
