The contrast between the filthy garbage dump and the luxurious Maserati/estate is stark and intentional. It highlights the huge shift in Xiao Xi's life. But the author doesn't romanticize it too much; Xiao Xi feels out of place and scared, which feels realistic. The transition is gradual, with her learning to trust her brother. The scene where she's overwhelmed by the beautiful manor but still hesitant – that's genuine character writing.
The story moves at a good pace. The first few chapters set up the situation, then the master's training happens quickly (which feels right given the montage), then the reunion happens fast. The only slightly slow part might be the bath scene, but it serves as a reset button for her appearance. No major dragging. The author knows when to linger on emotional beats and when to jump ahead.
I'm intrigued by the "Synthesis Coins" economy. It seems like coins come only from killing zombies (and possibly other sources?). The system synthesis costs are variable: 30 coins for a potion, but the M4A1 model still can't be synthesized with 51 coins. That suggests a tier progression. I want to see Lin Xiu strategically choose what to synthesize. He's already worn the Iron Man armor without synthesizing it, so maybe he can use equipment without system upgrades? That's interesting: the system enhances objects, but he can still wear normal armor. I hope we see him eventually upgrade that Iron Man suit to something functional, maybe like rocket boosters or built-in weapons. That would be epic.
Xu Zhiqiao is a mood. She's stuck between this annoying brother who treats her like a pest and this weird older dude who's hitting on her. Her internal struggle is so relatable. She's trying so hard to be polite and keep the peace, but you can see her boundaries being trampled. The way she handles Ji Huailuo's temper is surprisingly mature for an 18-year-old. But then she goes and kicks Zhou Cong's car door when she's not mad? That little rebellious streak is gold. She's not as fragile as everyone thinks.
