Overall, this is a really strong opening. It balances humor, horror, and heart well. The main characters are likeable, the system makes sense, and the writing is clean. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys modern cultivation with a zombie twist.

The sons’ immediate reaction when Granny Wei says “we’ll starve together” felt too uniform. They all panic in the same way. I wish the author gave each son a line that showed a distinct personality. Right now they’re just a chorus.
