I really want to know more about the “Sealed Memories” that were extracted from her. That implies someone from Wufang Valley purposely took them. Was it punishment? Protection? And why was she sent to the mortal world? The tanci connection might be a clue. Maybe she was involved in the incident that injured Tan Ci’s legs and got sealed as a result? A lot of potential backstory.
1 Okay, I need to talk about the atmosphere in this story. The author is really good at creating a sense of wrongness. Everything from the ancestral hall with its mismatched decorations (double happiness AND mourning signs? what?) to the office with its squirming darkness—there's this constant feeling that reality is slightly off-kilter. It's not just horror, it's that specific kind of uncanny where things are familiar but not quite right. That's way harder to write than straightforward horror.
I like the small details that show the apocalypse – the shattered shop windows, abandoned cars, the zombies wandering like in the movies. When Youxiang looks out after a month, the description of the collapse is effective. And the blood moon event that started it is mysterious. I hope the story explains the origin of the outbreak. Also, the base with its walls and inspections feels realistic for a survivor setup.
