The betrayal backstory with Li Wan and Lu Feng feels like something out of a soap opera, but the way Su Xiaoxiao acts cold while pretending to be warm is satisfying. She’s playing the long game, and I love how she weaponizes their secret affair with the USB stick. That plan was very well thought out.
I'm already invested in the relationship dynamic between Yu Mu and Yun Buqi. The contrast between Yun Buqi's genuine warmth and the cold treatment Yu Mu gets from his actual master Zili Fairy is striking. When Yun Buqi drapes the cloak over Yu Mu in the Cold Prison and says "even body cultivation isn't done this way," there's so much tenderness in that moment. It makes me want to see more of their connection and how it develops now that Yu Mu has decided to stay with him instead of returning to Zili.
I'm really loving how this story reimagines the character dynamics through the eyes of a magical cat. The system's breakdown of the potential "owners" was hilarious - calling Zhang Qiling's life an infinite loop of finding and losing memories, and Xie Yuchen a walking tragedy with too many phones and assassination attempts.
The guards being like "oh this poor girl must have suffered under the demon king" while Phia is literally the demon king standing right there is excellent dramatic irony. I love the gap between what characters perceive and reality
The village gossip and player chatter in the world channel is fun. People talking about the first to level 5, wondering if Half a Cup of Clear Breeze is a guild big shot or a cheater. “Bullshit Big Shot! I’ve played countless games, those Big Shots don’t change their names! This is just a Cheater!” That’s exactly what players would say – accusation of cheating. The author also throws in another guild leader, Tian Xia Gui Yi from World Guild, who wants to win at the starting line. So there’s a broader competitive backdrop beyond Tang Feng’s solo journey. Gives me hope for guild wars later.
