After Ji Yu joins the group, I hope we get more team battles. His brute strength and soul abilities could combine with the girls’ diverse magic and sword skills. The Nightmare Beast fight should force cooperation. And Ji Yu’s speed weakness means he can’t solo everything—he’ll need their help. That could make for some fun tactical moments.
I have so many questions about the original owner’s life. Three kids with no father mentioned? She had male concubines locked in her treasury? The memory flashbacks suggest she was a total degenerate. But Xiang Ying is now in her body and she seems to be a different person – but she also didn’t hesitate to sleep with that reward guy on the first night. So is she morally compromised from the start? I think the novel is going for a “she’s pragmatic” angle, but I wish there was more distinction between her and the original owner’s reputation. The way the guards and officials treat her with contempt suggests the original owner was really hated. That’s a good starting point for redemption, but I need to see more internal conflict.
The detail about how the old man has to pay attention to the freshness of chicken blood and let it age for health reasons is such a funny little worldbuilding touch. It shows he's adapted to being a modern hikikomori vampire. These small moments build a believable character.
