The slap scene is cheesy but in the best way possible. It's cathartic to see Wen Tiantian physically and verbally confront Xia Xiaonuan. The exaggerated drama—the slap, the accusation of seduction—is exactly what I want from this genre. It's the kind of moment that makes me pump my fist and think, "Yes, that's what she deserved." The author knows how to create satisfying payoffs.
Setting-wise, the slum feels fully realized. The "steel pipes used for heating snaked and crisscrossed, occasionally spraying steam" gives a specific functional feel. It's not just grimdark; it has texture. I can imagine the noise and the smell. The author knows how to create an environment that influences the characters.
The Azure Heaven Divine Eye being a god-level skill that gives mental impact is cool, but I’m a bit skeptical about how instantly he can master it. Usually, god-level stuff takes a while to unlock or requires sacrifice. Him just slapping it on and one-shotting a One-Star beast felt a little too convenient. Still, it was a hype moment.
I found the character of Zhou Xiaowei really interesting, even in his short appearance. He is righteous and hot-headed on behalf of his uncle. He drags the lover out and yells at Liu Cuilan. It shows that not everyone in the village is passive. He sees the injustice and acts on it, which is a nice counterbalance to Zhijun’s more careful, silent suffering.
