I really like the worldbuilding twist that 90% of people don't believe in ghosts. It makes the secret society (Daoist Alliance) feel cool and mysterious. It also explains why a Celestial Master couldn't just solve his problems with magic. He was bound by the curse *and* the secrecy rules.
2 The "Bro" scene where she stops herself from saying it twice was too funny. She’s so affected by what Zhou Cong said that she can't even call her brother that anymore. Ji Huailuo’s drunk confusion about the missing "bro" was perfect. It shows how even a small comment from Zhou Cong has disrupted her entire internal rhythm. He’s like a virus in her brain. The fact that he then drops Zhou's number as a threat? So manipulative.
The opening scene with Lin Feng waking up gasping for air really hooked me—it’s raw and visceral, you can almost feel the sweat and panic. But then the betrayal backstory dump feels a bit rushed, like the author just wanted to get the revenge motivation out there fast. I get it, but I wish it had been more drawn out, let the hatred simmer a bit longer.
The environment descriptions of the other world – pitch black sky, a cold fireball, soft ground – are effective but a bit sparse. I'd like more sensory details, like smells or sounds, to really immerse me. The translation might be cutting down some of the original Chinese descriptions.
The opening scene with Zhang Qian slamming files and yelling at Captain He immediately sets up the conflict between hard science and fringe methods. I liked the tension, but it felt a bit on-the-nose. Her “how will the public view us” rant is exactly what you’d expect from a young hotshot. Still, it made me root for her, even if she’s being stubborn.
The conspiracy subplot with the "Soul-Separating Drunkenness" is a classic hook, but it's executed well. The villain's tantrum about a "mere mortal" touching his woman is a great, petty motivation. It's not some grand demon lord scheme, just a spoiled young master's tantrum. This makes the threat feel both real and manageable. It immediately establishes that Shen Yun Hao isn't just a random nobody; he already has enemies in this new world. This sets up a clear, immediate conflict for him once he wakes up for good: dealing with the fallout of this subtle assassination attempt. It's a solid B-plot to run alongside the A-plot of his marriage.
The newbie dungeon being only open ten days creates instant urgency. Gu Chen wasted time in Gubei City because of the family drama, so he’s already behind. That pressure is good for pacing. He’ll need to grind hard to catch up. The fact that he has an Epic summon at level 1 though… maybe he’s not that behind.
The cultivation training was rushed. Three days of sitting and suddenly he reaches Qi Refining stage 1? Using the Reincarnation Lamp to gather a bunch of different elemental energies sounds overpowered. I get that he’s a reincarnated expert, but zero struggle makes it less satisfying.
