1 I love the detail about the White Jade Cream from the Western Regions. It's such a small world-building element but it makes the setting feel richer. The fact that the Empress sent five boxes out of the only ten that exist shows how spoiled this girl is. Lin Lang's appreciation for these little luxuries makes her relatable as a reader surrogate.
I am so hyped to see this fight. Peng Feng has been hiding his strength for over a decade. These assassins probably think they are dealing with a weak disciple. They have no idea they are stepping on a Diamond Realm powerhouse. This is the first real chance for him to show a bit of his true strength, even if he tries to hide it. The payoff is going to be huge.
2 The way Feng Yaoyao pays for Qin Bai's coffee even though Shen Muyu already paid is hilarious. The waiter's confusion – "two orders were shared among three people" – is spot on. It shows the petty competition between the two women. This is the kind of human drama that makes me want to read more.
The character of Uncle Qi, the loyal old servant, really got me. The way he tells the young master to hurry up and run, shielding him with his body, only to get taken down in one move by Wang Daoyuan... that was brutal. I actually felt a pang of sadness. You could tell he was genuinely loyal, but his "tough talk" didn't match his actual fighting ability, which was a bit disappointing. Still, it set the stakes high early on.
The mention of King Jiang Chuan from the past life adds depth. That betrayal is clearly driving him. I hope we get flashbacks to that moment later. The line “that attack from behind” felt personal. The story has room to explore that pain.
The Branch Master Yorane seems like a decent guy. He didn’t treat Eld differently once he learned his title, just handled the paperwork professionally. I appreciate that kind of no-nonsense character in fantasy settings.
