The three conditions are clever. Demanding Meixiang Courtyard and a shop is smart negotiation. She’s not just settling; she’s securing resources for escape later. The freedom of movement clause is key for her plans.
The only thing that bothered me a little was that some dialogue tags felt repetitive, like “Jiang Nan said” or “Jiang Nan smiled” appearing too often. It’s a minor nitpick, but it broke immersion a few times. Also, the pacing in the initial phone call could have been a bit tighter. Those are small quibbles, though. The character work and emotional beats are strong enough to make up for any rough edges. Still a solid read so far.
The manipulation tactics Lin Yi uses on Luo Qingyu are straight out of a special forces hostage situation. He alternates between threat and violence, keeps her off balance, and gives her no room to think. His line “Put on your clothes” after raping her is delivered with such chilling detachment. It shows he completely views her as an asset or an obstacle, not a person. That level of control is terrifying and makes him a very effective anti-hero. I both admire and fear him.
I liked that the lifespan simulation included physical changes – his body growing, then declining. The detail of "your body was increasingly depleted" because there were no resources is realistic. The MC didn't just gain millions of years of experience; his body had to bear it. That adds realism to a magic system. The part where he relaxed and watched flowers for ten years and still made progress was a nice break from the intense cultivation.
That reveal of the divorce letter was perfectly executed. You can feel the world shift for Gu Yanzhi. The use of the classic 'may we part in peace' divorce template is so chilling. It's not a fiery, emotional accusation; it's a cold, bureaucratic severing of ties. It's been notarized and ready to go. She's been planning this for a while, and that quiet, methodical energy is way more terrifying than any screaming fight would be. He completely underestimated her resolve.
