The antagonists so far—Zhou and Shi Yong—are one-dimensional but effective for this stage. I hope we get more complex villains later, maybe martial artists with actual motivations.

The food exchange system is one of the most interesting parts to me. Shu Xiaohui trades a full set of airdrop firearms—enough to equip ten people—for just a small amount of dried fruit and grains. He knows he’s getting a raw deal, but he does it anyway because he understands how critical weapons are for the survivors. That ethical choice tells me so much about his character even before we learn he used to be human. It’s subtle but builds a lot of respect for him.
