The dialogue is snappy and realistic. "Do you enjoy the position of Mrs. Jiang?" "Too lazy to pretend anymore." No wasted words. It reveals character quickly.
Lin Yun, the third wife, is interesting. She seems to enjoy the conflict – she "anticipated this, she curled her lips, assuming a posture of enjoying the show." She's not a typical evil stepmother who outright bullies; she's more of a spectator waiting for a show. She might be more dangerous than she appears. I wonder what her endgame is. Also, she's obviously not happy about Wen Li coming home.
When Wang Li is describing how he wants to see the highest point of the world, he's basically setting up his long-term goal. The immediate hurdle is the university entrance exam, which requires at least Martial Apprentice Eighth Layer. That's a huge gap from his current Third Layer. This gives the story a clear direction: he needs to improve rapidly. The hint about resources from Li Yuanzhu suggests he'll rely on external help. I'm wondering if there's a cheat system or if he simply becomes more diligent. I hope it's not an instant power-up.
