I’m slightly bothered by how quickly Gu Chen accepted his new life after transmigration. He just sighs and moves on. But I guess that’s common for transmigration stories. The memory integration helps. Still, a little more emotional processing could ground the character more.
Yan Bugui is the perfect side character. He’s snide and calculating, calling Yang Jun a fool for manual labor while his own son sleeps at home. The way he whispers with his wife about bribing Yi Zhonghai for a job? Classic small-time schemer energy.
The bond between He Ziling and her father He Wang is sweet. He’s a simple old man running a grocery store, and she’s a determined martial artist. Their dynamic feels grounded, and it gives Ye Feng a sense of a found family.
I wonder if the ability will have any other uses beyond text extraction. Can he extract adjectives from people? That might be too OP, but the thought is intriguing. Also, what happens if you extract something like “Sharp” from a blade? Does the blade become blunt? He already showed that extracting “worm-eaten” gave him a solid board. So it seems like removing a flaw makes the object lose that flaw. That opens up possibilities for repairing things or enhancing them. I want to see him experiment more with different items in the future.
