The story really needs to slow down and let scenes breathe. The fight with the teacher and principal took less than a page. The revelation of the father took two paragraphs. I feel like I’m being rushed through plot points without time to get attached. The best stories let moments sink in. I hope future chapters have more dialogue and reflection, not just action and exposition.
The pacing is really good. It doesn't waste time. From the ceremony, to the bullying, to the system reveal, to the actual deployment—it all happens in the first few pages. There's no long-winded explanation about the academy or the system. The author trusts you to pick up the context clues and just enjoy the ride. This "show, don't tell" approach is what makes it so addictive to read.
The cubs' reactions during the visit were so precious. Especially Doris from the bird clan saying Director Xixi is the gentlest beastman ever, and Hei Mo from the snake clan declaring he wants to attend class there. Kids being won over by good food and warmth feels very real. She's definitely secured at least half the enrollment.
