1 The pacing of the opening chapters feels like it’s racing toward the revenge hook. We get betrayal, death, resurrection, and the first kill all within like 12 pages. That’s a lot of ground covered, but it also leaves very little room for character depth. I’m hoping once the main revenge plot against Yang Liancheng starts, the author slows down and lets us breathe.
I would probably not reread this whole chapter, but I might revisit certain scenes like the hospital comedy or the first meeting. There’s no depth that demands reexamination. But if the whole book continues like this, I can see it being a comfort read that people come back to when they need fluff. It’s not the kind of story you reread for hidden meanings; you read it for the warm fuzzies.
The moment when Xu Zhou discovers he can collect from the Thousand Hammer Refinement is a great example of the “system interaction” done right. It’s not just a random skill he gets; it’s something he’s already been training in. That connection between his past efforts and the system reward makes the progression feel organic rather than cheap. It rewards the reader for paying attention to earlier details.
I appreciate that the author didn't drag out the father-daughter reconciliation. They had a misunderstanding, she apologized, he accepted. Short and sweet.
The way the story uses the construction accident as the isekai trigger is brilliant. It's not a random truck-kun or a summoning ritual. It's a fall from the 13th floor because of unsafe formwork materials. The author makes the danger feel plausible and scary. Eguchi’s thought that this isn't just a fatal accident but a "super-major disaster" shows just how much he values his job and safety. The fact that he’s floating around mid-air wondering if his harness will catch on rebar is heartbreaking because it’s such a professional thought in a life-or-death moment.
Lin Yao is such a great character. The guilt she has over the scholarship system feels very real. She genuinely cares about Qin Ge, and her attitude isn't just lip service. The backstory on her finding him the job is sweet.
