Overall, I'm hooked. The premise is a standard "strong from the start" transmigration, but the execution is very grounded. The poverty feels real, the abilities have clear rules, and the character is likeable. It’s a slow burn of power fantasy wrapped in a very dark blanket. I’m in for the long haul.
The pacing is relentless in the first two chapters. We go from zero to five husbands all trying to kill her in like, two pages. It's a bit much, honestly. My brain was spinning trying to keep track of who was who. We've got a panther, a snake, a white tiger, a peacock, and a silver wolf? I had to re-read the descriptions a couple of times to picture them all. It's a lot of names and animal traits to dump on the reader at once. I get that it's setting the stakes, but it feels a bit overwhelming rather than building suspense.
The physical descriptions of the Zhao house—dilapidated but tidy, large courtyard—add texture. I can picture the main hall and the pigsty. It makes me feel like I'm there, watching from the crowd.
