The way Azami discovers the apocalypse through his phone messages is well done. Starting with his kouhai’s casual email about a weird video, then gradually escalating to survival messages, builds horror slowly. The video mentioned but not explained is a good hook. The last message about going to the shelter gives him a clear goal. It’s a smart way to deliver exposition without info-dumping. Also liked the dead battery frustration – very relatable.
WHOA! I did not expect Lin Yao to be a martial arts badass. That fight scene came completely out of left field. The way she flipped over the table and dropkicked those guys was epic. Secret agent vibes!
The narrator's casual threat to scare the village kids for bullying the little girl made me laugh.
I love that the system isn't just a tool for power, it also gives missions that shape the MC's actions. The mission to "discipline his siblings" by taking the bird eggs is perfect. It forces him to be proactive in a way that fits his "big brother" role, a role he didn't even ask for but is falling into naturally.
I’m curious how the physique points will work. If Yang Jun can get stronger, faster, or heal his dad’s leg, that’ll be huge. But I hope it doesn’t become too OP too fast. The slow burn suits this story.
The detail about rain and comet fragments melting before the zombie outbreak adds a unique twist. Usually it’s just one virus. The combination of natural disasters and zombies makes it feel more chaotic. I want to see how that plays out.
The transition from the first chapter’s slice-of-life to the second’s survivalist training is jarring but effective. I feel like I’m reading two different books. The second part feels like a survival guide with monster hunting. The first was a thriller. The protagonist’s personality shifts too—from goofy salaryman to cold planner. He seems to have no trauma from the attack. That’s unrealistic.
The dialogue during the breakup is so dramatic that I'm here for every second. "It is I, Ye Chen, who is divorcing you!" The capital letters energy! And Ye Chen smashing the pill bottle—classic defiant move. Even knowing he's going to lose his cheat, it's satisfying to see him have his moment. It makes the later slap more impactful. Qin Yanran's dismissive "Qin Feng" just shows how little regard she has for both of them.
The concept of karma and identity theft through soul seizure is wild. It’s not just a disguise; it’s a full replacement. That could have huge repercussions in the wider world. I’m curious if the Buddha or Heaven will notice.
