The ending of this section, with Xu Qingying’s cultivation skyrocketing and everyone staring in awe, is a perfect cliffhanger. But it’s not an action cliffhanger; it’s a character cliffhanger. We know Lu Qing’an just got a massive power-up too. The stage is set. He has a reason to be angry, a reservoir of power, and a broken heart. I cannot wait to see what he does with all of that. The system finally got its wish, and I have a feeling it’s going to regret it.
One thing that slightly bugged me: how did Shen Fei survive the lightning? It struck right above her and she blacked out but was fine. Maybe the lab shielded her? Or maybe it's just a minor plot convenience. I'm willing to overlook it because the story moved on quickly, but I hope it's addressed later.
The ghostly wedding procession showing up is where the story went from creepy mystery to full blown horror and I am here for it. The image of all those pale figures in red wedding clothes floating with their heels off the ground, playing funeral music for a wedding party is nightmare fuel. And the little boy holding the protagonist's own baby photo as a funeral portrait? That sent chills down my spine, no joke. The twist that the female corpse is actually the little girl he scared twenty years ago? That's some beautifully tragic, messed up karma. It connects the past and present perfectly. But it also raises so many questions. Why her? Why now? Why is she assembled from parts? And why does a ghostly wedding procession think the main character is her husband now? That's a huge giant red flag for his future and I need to know what happens next. The pacing in this section is perfect, it doesn't let you breathe.
The fake daughter Jiang Nian saying "I should leave" hit different because you can tell it's a preemptive strike from her past life trauma, but Jiang Li’s reaction was so dismissive and funny. Like, she already knew Jiang Nian was trying to be polite and take the high ground, and she just played along with amusement. The tension between them is electric right from the start, and I could almost feel the awkward silence in that room. It's so good when a confrontation has multiple layers of unspoken history.
I honestly love how Xu Ling pushed for answers about the previous host before accepting anything. It shows she’s not just blindly accepting this “good luck,” and that caution makes her feel like a real person, not a puppet.
2 The grapefruit candy detail is small but makes Ronnie feel human. Even though he’s a dragon now he still craves the simple pleasures of his past life. I hope the system eventually gives him more food items so he can enjoy being a dragon with snacks. The picnic set having snacks is a good start but he needs more variety. Maybe a soda machine system item?
The pacing feels right for a light read. It starts with the emotional conflict of being sent away, quickly resolves it with Yan Zhizhi's nonchalant acceptance, and then jumps into the variety show chaos. No dragging or unnecessary angst. Each chapter has a clear purpose – setting up her new life, her decision to slack off, and then the show prep. Keeps me wanting to continue.
I really liked the opening with Lu Ye quietly grinding his cultivation in the thatched hut. The whole Myriad Dao Pavilion system giving him pills and skills every ten days feels like a solid cheat, but not too overpowered since he has to hide it. The pacing from transmigration to Condensing Source Layer 4 in two months makes sense with his cautious approach. But what got me was how quickly the sect threw him under the bus for a marriage alliance. That twist came out of nowhere and set up all the conflict perfectly. I was already invested in his quiet growth, and then BAM—he’s being shipped off like a bargaining chip. It makes the world feel harsh and unpredictable, which is refreshing.
The scene where Madam Wang, Shen Weiyang's own mother, comes to 'discipline' her for the divorce is horrific but so realistic. This is the feudal system in action. She's not there to comfort her daughter; she's there to protect the 'Shen family face.' Calling Shen Weiyang a 'substitute bride' and a 'shameless and ungrateful wretch' shows that her own family saw her as a tool. No wonder she has no softness left. She has never had a safe harbor, not in her marriage and not in her natal home. 1
Qingwu's perspective is hilarious because she keeps misinterpreting everything Song Yaoshi does as being secretly heartbroken. Miss must be using a smile to hide sadness! No, Qingwu, your Miss is genuinely not bothered because she literally just read about this plot two days ago and knows what's coming.
