The little flashbacks about Sheng Ze Xi’s past life devotion are heartbreaking. He spent his whole life single, got disfigured trying to save her from a fire, and even had his body buried with hers? That’s some tragic, epic love. It makes every kind thing he does in this timeline feel so much heavier. She knows now what he was willing to sacrifice. That moment when she tugs his sleeve and asks if he wants to try with her—she’s making a choice based on real gratitude and hope, not blind obsession. It’s so much more meaningful than a simple crush.
The timing of the rain stopping is almost too perfect—it’s the morning after the rabbit hunt, when they need to move. But I’ll accept it as a sign of a new beginning. The line “the continuous torrential rain had indeed passed” gave me a sense of relief. The weather mirrors the story’s mood, and now that the rain is lighter, I hope the plot picks up too.
Peng Feng’s life philosophy is hilarious for a main character. 'Only those who stay hidden until the end and live the longest are the ultimate winners.' He is basically playing a perfect stealth character in a world of berserkers. It is such a fun inversion of the usually brash and impulsive cultivation MC. He treats staying alive and hidden like a competitive sport.
Nian Shilan's character is interesting so far. She's arrogant but also a victim—losing a child because of Consort De and the prince. Yi Xiu seems to sympathize with her, which adds complexity. I hope she becomes more than just a jealous concubine stock character.
